A highly appealing concept, Les Tapis Volants – Over Agrabah – opens up a whole new perspective on the story of Aladdin. This attraction for little ones is located at Walt Disney Studio, between Studios 3 and 4 if you’re in the heart of Toon Studio. It’s a film set made up of life-like Agrabah decors. As you stand in front of the building, you catch a glimpse of the genie himself. He stands at the top of a shooting ladder, wearing a beret, a scarf and holding a megaphone: the complete look of the perfect director, a director who may be rather atypical, but who will give you the warmest of welcomes.
I couldn’t wait to be part of the shoot, so I rushed off to see what was going on behind the scenes. Then I took the artists’ path to the stage. And so it was that I was part of the cast of the film directed by the genius at the heart of this purely Disney attraction. There are lots of us to play with. The group is invited to take part in the casting set up by the big blue man with immense powers. Visitors play the role of apprentice extras on one of the many flying carpets. The boat can hold four people, thanks to a magic lever and beetle at the bow. And off I went for a few rides in this unusual vehicle! It was a thrill-filled experience. I hope others will too.
